Premiere at the Aviation Airshow

Premiere at the Aviation Fair

In the history of the Aviation Fair, we have already witnessed several premiere performances, although these have mostly featured historical aircraft. This year, however, we can look forward to the public flight debut of the new Czech training aircraft, the Aero L-39NG Skyfox. During the weekend of June 7–8, at the 33rd annual Aviation Fair, this newcomer will take to the skies over Pardubice, alongside other aircraft from the Pardubice-based Flight Training Centre of the state enterprise LOM Praha.

“We are pleased that Pardubice, which has been the home airport of this new aircraft since February this year, will become the site of its public premiere,” says Jan Rudzinskyj from the Aviation Fair’s organizing team. “We have a long-standing partnership with the Flight Training Centre and its parent company, the state enterprise LOM Praha, in preparing the Aviation Fair. Their aircraft always take part not only in flight demonstrations but also in static displays,” he continues.

The new L-39NG Skyfox, in an eye-catching paint scheme, will be showcased in a joint flyby with its predecessor, the legendary L-39C Albatros, whose service life is drawing to a close. This may well be the last performance of the CLV’s Albatros at the Aviation Fair. In addition to the jet trainers, CLV will also present the Enstrom 480B-G helicopter piloted by Jaroslav Špaček. On the Zlin Z-142C AF, a propeller-driven training aircraft, well-known aerobatic pilot and CLV instructor Martin Šonka will perform an aerobatic display.

The state enterprise LOM Praha also operates historical aircraft that are part of the collections of the Military History Institute Prague. The most well-known and unmistakable type is the C-11, a propeller-driven trainer aircraft from the 1950s. This is a Yak-11, which was license-built in Kunovice. In recent years, the C-11 has become a regular feature of the Aviation Fair program, and thanks to the precise demonstration by Tomáš Bruštík, it remains a crowd favorite that never gets old. Audiences certainly have something to look forward to.

Tomáš Bruštík will also showcase a second historical aircraft operated by LOM Praha—the Zlin Z-381, nicknamed Basa. It will be featured as part of a segment alongside other training aircraft from the late 1930s and early 1940s,” adds Jan Rudzinskyj.

The Aviation Fair is a traditional, all-day event for the entire family. On both Saturday and Sunday, a diverse ground program is prepared, featuring numerous presentations and activities for both children and adults. The main flying program itself will last over five hours.
