Modern Military Jets at the Aviation Fair – Tornado Jet Coming to Pardubice!
The Aviation Fair is not only about historic aircraft – visitors can also enjoy demonstrations of modern aviation technology. This year will be no exception, as jet-powered military aircraft will be on display at Pardubice Airport over the weekend of June 7–8. One of the highlights will be the legendary Tornado jet, appearing in a static display, and the public debut of the L-39NG Skyfox trainer from the CLV (Flight Training Center) in Pardubice.
“The Panavia Tornado is the last operational fighter jet featuring variable-sweep wings, and it will be flown in for a static display by the German test unit WTD 61. This impressive twin-engine aircraft recently celebrated 50 years of service, and to mark the occasion, one jet received a special anniversary paint scheme – which is exactly how it will appear in Pardubice,” says Jan Rudzinskyj from the Aviation Fair organizing team.
He continues: “The Panavia Tornado is a legendary European multirole combat aircraft developed in the 1970s through a joint effort by the UK, Germany, and Italy. Its variable-geometry wings combine the advantages of speed and maneuverability. The Tornado excels in high-speed, low-altitude flight, thanks in part to its then-advanced terrain-following radar system.”
In addition to the Tornado, visitors to the Aviation Fair will also see aircraft from the Czech Air Force, including the JAS-39 Gripen, the CASA C-295 transport aircraft, and the W-3A Sokol helicopter. Making not just its Aviation Fair debut but also its first-ever public appearance will be the brand-new L-39NG Skyfox jet, now in service at the Pardubice-based Flight Training Center of LOM Praha. The CLV’s pilots will demonstrate this sleek new trainer in the skies over Pardubice.
The Aviation Fair offers a full-day program for the entire family. On both Saturday and Sunday, a vibrant ground program will feature a wide variety of exhibitions and activities for children and adults alike. The flying display alone will last over five hours.
