🇬🇧 PR13 – Return of a legend to the Pardubice sky

Aerobatics is the queen of air sports and a proper aerobatic pilot’s flying show is the highlight of any airshow. A real legend in this field is Hungarian pilot Péter Besenyei. His amazing flying show will be one of the peaks of this year’s Aviation Fair program, taking place on the weekend of June 1st and 2nd, 2024 in Pardubice.

„In the past, during organizing staff meetings, we have recalled Péter Besenyei’s great performance at the Aviation Fair several times and we could hardly believe it`s already fifteen years since then. The chronicle confirmed it really was at the Aviation Fair 2009. That is why we decided to invite Péter and we are very pleased he has accepted the invitation and will be a part of the rich and colorful flight program of this year’s Aviation Fair,“ says Jan Rudzinskyj from the organizing staff of the Aviation Fair.

„Hungarian aerobatic pilot Péter Besenyei is not only an aerobatic legend, he is also the man who changed the public perception of aerobatics by inventing a new format of aerial competition, both exciting and attractive to spectators,“ adds aviation columnist Petr Kolmann and continues: „It was Péter Besenyei, who invented an aerial competition between pylons, later known as the Red Bull Air Race. The first trial year took place twenty years ago, the following year the competition was already flown as a regular world series in many places around the world. Of course, we all know that later on we also had Czech representatives in the competition, Martin Šonka and Petr Kopfstein, for whom Péter is an authority and a role model.

Péter Besenyei turns 68 this year, and he has been flying since he was fifteen, but he was also very successful in karate, parachuting and other sports. In aerobatics, he won many awards to his credit, including the titles of World Champion and European Champion. This likeable Hungarian pilot will join the Aviation Fair in Pardubice with a unique aerobatic special Corvus Racer 540. Péter Besenyei is a guarantee of a great show and we certainly have something to look forward to,“ adds Petr Kolmann.

The Aviation Fair is a traditional all-day program for the whole family. On Saturday and Sunday, a rich ground program is also prepared with a number of performances and activities for children and adults. The flight program itself will last over five hours.
